ABSTRACT:
Numerous studies have revealed that study skills have a constructive role on academic performance of students, in addition to educational quality, student’s intelligence, and their study skills. The present study was probed to find the significant relationship between study skills and academic achievement of nursing college students with reference to the background variables. The study aimed to assess the levels of study skills among Nursing Students. Objective: To assess the levels of study skills, to compare the domains of study skills among B.Sc. Nursing Students and to find out association between the study skills of B.Sc. Nursing Students of Bee Enn College of Nursing with selected socio demographic variables. A descriptive study was conducted among 60 students of B.Sc. Nursing of Bee Enn College of Nursing. Purposive sampling technique was used. Data was obtained by using self -structured three point Rating scale to assess the level of study skills. Analysis and interpretation of data was analysed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Result: The present study concluded that the majority of Students were females 49(81%), most 30(50%) of the sample of study belongs to age group of 20-23 years, 41(68%) of students were living as a nuclear family,37(61%) students were Hindu, 47(78%) were belonged to middle class families,25(41%) were staying in their own home and 32(53%) of the student parents were graduated. Conclusion: The study concluded that 30(50%) of the students were having very good level of study skills, 16(26%) students were having excellent level, 9(15%) students were having good, 3(5%) were having poor level and 2(3%) students were having average level of study skills. Memorizing skill among the students got 1st rank with highest mean percentage scores of (72.8%) among all the other selected domains.
