ABSTRACT:
Alcoholism, a chronic disorder with often devastating health and economic consequences has multiple causes with psychological, social and biological factors, also known as the Bio psychosocial (BPS) factor; determine the course of an individual's health-related outcomes. NHMS 2016 also reports 4.6% prevalence for alcohol use disorders. The institute for health metric and evaluation, in its 2017 report, ranks alcohol as the 8th most driving factor for disability and death. The study was undertaken to evaluate the effectiveness of raj yoga meditation on promotion of mental well-being among alcoholic patient Quantitative approach with one group pre-test, post-test design was used for the present study. The sample for the pilot study consists of 10 alcoholic patient selected by probability convenient sampling technique. Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being scale. During the pre-test the demographic data and level of mental well-being was assessed by Warwick-edinburgh mental wellbeing scale after that the percentage of pre-test mean score 25.5 and post-test mean score 52.9. The standard deviation valve for pre-test 6.39 and post-test 8.04 respectively. Since the p valve is less than 0.05 hence the research hypothesis (H1) was accepted. The study revealed that the rajyoga meditation was effective in promotion of mental well-being among alcoholic patient.
