ABSTRACT:
A study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of planned teaching programme on knowledge regarding iron deficiency anemia and its prevention among the primi antenatal mothers. The study aimed to assess knowledge of primi antenatal mothers on Iron deficiency anemia and its prevention and to evaluate the effectiveness of planned teaching programme on knowledge regarding iron deficiency anemia and its prevention among primi antenatal mothers. A Pre-experimental one group pre-test and post-test design was adopted for the present study. The sample for the present study composed of primi antenatal mothers. A sample of 50 primi antenatal mothers who met the inclusion criteria was selected. Non-probability convenient sampling technique was used to select the samples. A structured interview method was developed for the purpose of data collection in the present study. The respondents knowledge scores was high in the post-test (M=19.6200) than that in the pre-test (M=8.80). The obtained mean difference was 10.82. The obtained ‘t’ value, t = 45.04 was highly significant. Therefore the Null Hypothesis (H01) was rejected at0.05 level of significance. The study findings imply that there is a need for educational programme to create awareness among the primi antenatal mothers regarding Iron deficiency anemia and its prevention.
