ABSTRACT:
Background: A structured teaching program is a great way to teach individuals about the correct usage of metered-dose inhalers. Objectives: 1. To assess the existing knowledge regarding the use of MDIs and its precautions among patients with Bronchial Asthma. 2. To associate the pre-test knowledge regarding the use of MDIs and its precautions among patients with Bronchial Asthma with their selected demographic variables. Design: Quasi-experimental one group pre-test-post test design. Participants: 60 patients with Bronchial Asthma were selected using nonprobability convenience sampling. Tool: A self-structured Questionnaire was used to assess the level of knowledge. Results: There was significant difference between the pre and post test knowledge score with the ‘t’value of 19.33 and found to be highly significant at the level of p< 0.05. Conclusion: The findings of the study revealed that a structured teaching program helps in improving the knowledge of subjects regarding the use and precautions of MDIs.
