ABSTRACT:
A descriptive method was used to assess the knowledge regarding disaster preparedness among staff nurses working in Sambhram hospital KGF and structured knowledge questionnaire and were used to collect data. Total 30 samples were selected for the study from Sambhram Hospital, KGF by using convenient sampling technique. The data obtained were analyzed and interpreted in terms of the objectives and hypothesis of the study. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for the data analysis the level of significance was set at 0.05 level. Among 30 staff nurses 25 staff nurses (83.34%) have inadequate knowledge level, 5 nurses (16.66%) have moderately adequate knowledge and none of them have adequate knowledge on disaster preparedness. It shows that there is less knowledge among staff nurses regarding disaster preparedness. None of the demographic variables shows any significant association with knowledge regarding disaster preparedness among staff nurses. But data shows that knowledge. The Study concluded that information booklet regarding disaster preparedness for staff nurses will improve their knowledge and will help them to acquire best skills in saving lives of victims in future. On the basis findings, it is recommended that a similar study may be replicated using of a large number of respondents. It is recommended that the other methods of descriptive study with information aids can be implemented for improving the level of knowledge regarding disaster preparedness among staff nurses.
