ABSTRACT:
Background of The Study: A man’s life is normally divided into five
stages namely: infancy, childhood, adolescence, adulthood and old age. Every
stage has its significance in terms of biological and psychological transition
which in-turn influences the behavior, among these stages the pivotal
transformation occurs between childhood to adolescence, which is also termed as
biological stress. Hormone for the first time appear and change the internal
environment and in- turn influence psychological composure of an individual,
this influence can be in positive or in negative way. Aim: Aim of study
is to assess and compare emotional intelligence between boys and girls nursing
students form selected nursing colleges of latur.
Method: In the study 60 samples were chosen using non probability
convenient sampling, structured Emotional intelligence scale was administered
to assess emotional intelligence among boys and girls of nursing college. Result:
The findings of the present study, revealed that among Boys the highest
percentage (86%) had high emotional intelligence and remaining (13.33%) had low
Emotional intelligence scores. While In case of Girls, Highest percentage (95%)
had high emotional intelligence scores and remaining (5%) had low emotional
intelligence scores. To find the significance of difference in mean emotional
intelligence scores between Boys and Girls Nursing students, Independent ‘t’-test
was computed obtained value of Independent ‘t’(58)= 6.553 , which
was found to be significant at 0.05 level of significance. Hence Null
hypothesis is rejected interpreting Girls had significantly higher emotional
intelligence compared to Boys. To find association with level of Emotional
intelligence and their selected personal demographical variables Chi-Square was
computed, results reveal that no personal variables of samples were found to be
statistically significant at 0.05 level of significance.
Conclusion: The study revealed the emotional intelligence is having a profound impact on boys and girls Nursing students and it further revels that girls had higher emotionally intelligence in comparison to boys. The result demonstrated that the Questionnaire was effective for comparing the emotional maturity in between boys and girls among the nursing student M.I.N.S college latur.

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY:
Nursing education is a very important stage in a nurse`s career. During their professional education, students experience academic demands like tests, theoretical and practical course work, aspects of professional practice as well as the practical matters of providing health services1. During the academics of nursing education, a student needs to face many stressors which include peer pressure, teachers or parent’s expectations, studies, assignments, examinations, workload. Stressors in clinical practice include clinical assignments, shift duty, fear of dealing with patients, relatives and other health care professionals, fear of handling bio-medical equipments and technical advancements and so on1.
The nursing school years are an important period of transition from adolescents to trained nurses. Today`s nursing students are the nucleus of the professional nurses of tomorrow, who will interact with their colleagues and other health care professionals on a daily basis and provide the care for patients, their families and society in the area of health and education in the future. The acquisition of the assertion skills is considered the key to enhance personal competence and satisfying relationships2.

The purpose of these skills would be to help nursing students and professionals cope with emotionally stressful situations9.

SECTION-3: FINDINGS RELATED TO DIFFERENCE IN EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE BETWEEN BOYS AND GIRLS NURSING STUDENTS
In order to find the difference in emotional intelligence between Boys and Girls nursing students, un-paired ‘t’ – test was computed.
To test the statistical significance, the following null hypothesis was stated
H01: There will be no significant difference in mean emotional intelligence scores of Boys and girls Nursing Students.

The data presented in the Table 4 shows that the mean difference of emotional intelligence scores of Boys and Girls nursing students is 33.10 and 37.33 respectively with mean difference 14.05.
To find the significance of difference in mean emotional intelligence scores among Boys and Girls Nursing students group, an independent ‘t’ test was computed and obtained value of independent ‘t’(58) = 6.553 p>0.05 is found to be significant. Hence the results did not support null hypothesis H01and research hypothesis is accepted. It is inferred that there is significant difference in mean Emotional intelligence scores between Boys and Girls Nursing students.
SECTION-4: ASSOCIATION BETWEEN THE EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE OF BOYS AND GIRLS NURSING STUDENTS WITH THEIR SELECTED PERSONAL VARIABLES
a) Association between Emotional Intelligence of nursing students with their selected personal variables.
To find out the association between Emotional Intelligence of Nursing students withtheir selected personal variables, chi square was computed and following null hypothesis is stated.
H02: There will be no significant association between the Emotional Intelligence of nursing students with their selected personal variables.
The findings related to association Emotional Intelligence of nursing students with their selected personal variables are presented in Table-4
