Pranic Healing is a form of ancient energy medicine, which utilizes the inherent energy Prana (life force or energy) to balance, and promote the body's energy and its processes. Prana is a Sanskrit word which actually means, the vital force that keeps us alive and healthy. Pranic healing is a holistic approach as it assumes a person in its complexity and does not separate the body and the mind.  It involves the manipulation of ki and bioplasmic  matter of the patient’s body. It has also been called medical qigong (ki kung or ki healing), psyhic healing, vitalic healing, therapeutic touch, laying of the hand, magnetic healing, faith healing and charismatic healing.

KEYWORDS: Pranic healing, Prana, chakras, energy body, medicine.

INTRODUCTION:

In ancient Chinese medical science, there are five levels of healing skills. The first is tuena in which the healer uses his hands to massage. It is also known as acupressure. In the second level, the medical healer uses herbs, sometimes animal products and minerals to heal the patient. In the third level, the healer uses acupuncture and moxibustion. In the forth level, the healer practices acupuncture with the projection of chi energy into the needles, meridians and internal organs. This is a higher level of healing which requires additional years of training and practice in ancient China. The fifth level requires the highest healing skill, which is the projection of chi energy without the use of needle or physical contact. The projection of  chi energy without physical contact is called Medical Chi Kung. And it is divided into two schools, the Internal School and External School.

According to Master Choa Kok Sui, the Internal Medical Chi Kung School and External Medical Chi Kung School are actually two sides of same coin. In order to become a good healer using external chi, one must have a certain amount of internal power, which fortunately most people possess.

The External Medical Chi Kung as taught by Master Choa Kok Sui is very easy to learn and practice. It also uses acupuncture points, but not the ordinary acupuncture points. It uses 11 major acupuncture points called as ta xue lun (ta means big, xue means acupuncture points and lun means spinning wheel)  it also uses semi major acupuncture points called xiao xue lun ( xiao means small).

In India, External Medical Chi Kung is now called as Pranic healing ( Prana means energy) . Prana is the vital energy or life force that keeps the body healthy and alive. In Chinese, it is called chi, in Japanese ki and in Sanskrit prana. Ther are 3 main sources of prana, air, the sun and the ground.1

Definition:

Pranic Healing comes from two words: Prana, which means vital energy, and Healing. Pranic Healing is therefore a no-touch, no-drug complementary therapy system that uses prana to heal a wide range of physical and psychological ailments. Pranic Healing is highly systematic and scientific-based, which distinguishes it from other healing modalities.

It is now being practiced in over 120 countries. Pranic Healing also have departments in a number of hospitals around the globe including California Neurosurgery hospitals and Apollo hospitals in Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai.

Sources of Prana:

According to experts, there are three main sources of Prana:

Solar Prana :

It is the energy of sunlight, which is believed to contribute to better health. The solar prana can be obtained by sunbathing (5 to 10 minutes) and by consuming water that has been kept in sunlight for some time. Prolonged exposure may be harmful.

Air Prana:

It is the energy of the air which is believed to contribute to the healing process. It can be obtained via the normal breathing (deep, slow rhythmic breathing is much more beneficial) or also can be directly absorbed through the energy centers (chakras) and skin pores.

Prana on earth :

This is the energy of the earth. It is obtained through the soles of the feet, which has direct contact with the ground. The amount of energy absorbed can be increased by walking barefoot.

The physical body is basically composed of two parts: the visible physical body and the invisible physical body that is also known as the energy body, etheric body, bioplasmic body or the aura. These two bodies are interconnected; it means what affects one, affects the other. Hence healing the energy body and the chakras has substantial relief on the physical body.

Chakras:

In the energy body there are energy channels known as meridians, and energy centers, known as chakras. Chakras are like power plants that provide energy for the proper functioning of the body. Each chakra is responsible for controlling and energizing certain parts and organs of the physical body. If the chakras malfunction, they will adversely affect the proper functioning of the vital internal organs. Chakras beside physical functions also have psychological functions, which determine the character of the person.  The major acupuncture points are called chakras and semi major acupuncture points are called minor chakras.

How does Pranic healing works?:

Pranic healing involves scanning the human aura to detect the imbalances of energies, known as energetic congestion and depletion. It then uses cleansing technique to remove negative and used-up energies and energizing techniques to improve the flow of energy and strengthen the aura and the chakras. Once the aura is balanced, clean and strong, the health of the body gets improved.

Pranic healing is divided into different levels. In the first level, the students are taught how to absorb air prana (chi energy) and how to project it to the patients. In the second level, the students are taught how to use different color pranas in cleansing and energizing the patient. This technique is much more powerful. In the third level, the students are taught how to use color pranas on psychological ailments. Treating psychological ailments requires more time, efforts and greater skill. In the fourth level, the students are taught how to use crystals to focus on pranic energy to the patient.

Laws of Pranic Healing:

The Pranic healing is based on two laws:

1.    Law of Self-Recovery:

The body has the self-ability to heal injuries, ailments, fractures, on its own to some extent. However, medicines are used to speed up healing. A viral infection may not be cured by medicines, it can only control symptoms. But the body fights infection with its own antibodies and rises above the infection and heals it.

2.    Law of Life Energy:

The existence of life is proved by its energy (Chi) and the healing process is hastened by elevating the energy in the specific area of the body which needs healing. The same can also be practiced to the whole body.

Principles of Pranic Healing:

·        All types of ailments or diseases originates in the aura (invisible energy that surrounds the actual physical body) and then invades the body.

·        The body has the ability to heal or recover on its own

·        Prana or energy has the ability to heal and recover the body by rejuvenating the aura.

·        This life energy or Prana can be transferred to another person.

·        The body is usually scanned to detect the energy deficient part and replenished with energy.

What physical ailments can be improved using pranic healing?:

Pranic healing is very effective in treating various physical ailments like, Migraine, diabetes, common cold, cough, headache, fever, sinusitis, asthma, back pain, high blood pressure, osteoporosis and arthritis.

How often should the Pranic healing treatment be applied?:

For most cases however healing on alternate days is recommended. The duration of healing also depends on the severity and nature of ailment, as well as the age and condition of the patient. For simple and minor ailments the healing can be instantaneous or may take a few minutes, a few hours or a few days. For chronic and severe cases however, the healing is progressive. Therefore the treatments in most of the cases should be applied three days in a week for a few weeks or a few months.

This means that pranic healing is not intended to replace orthodox medicine rather to complement it. So if ailment is severe or the symptoms persist, you are highly encouraged to consult a medical doctor and a reputable Pranic Healer.

How long does it take to get healed by applying Pranic Healing?:

The duration of healing varies based on the severity of the ailment, as well as the age and condition of the patient. For simple ailments you may experience the improving effects of Pranic Healing instantaneously, or within a few hours or a few days. For chronic or severe ailments, the symptoms may improve within a few hours, days or weeks. Complete healing however may require a few weeks or months based on the severity of the ailment as in such conditions, healing is progressive.

How does Pranic Healing work from distance?:

Distant Pranic Healing works based on two major principles: The Principle of Interconnectedness suggests that we are all interconnected energetically, through the earth’s energy field while the Principle of Directability refers to the ability of the healer to direct the energy through thought power.

Is Pranic Healing effective in healing psychological ailments?:

Pranic Healing belongs to a comprehensive package of complementary treatment that also includes healing of psychological ailments. Pranic Psychotherapy is the application of Pranic Healing dealing with emotional and psychological disorders. How often Pranic Psychotherapy should be applied?:

The frequency of treatment depends on the severity of the ailment. In general it is recommended to apply Pranic Psychotherapy trice a week for as long as necessary. The healer will recommend the required number of healing sessions and frequency of treatment during the first session.

Can Pranic Psychotherapy be applied while on medication?:

Pranic Healing is a method of complementary therapy and believes on an integrated approach. An integrated approach means that medical treatment and Pranic Healing can be applied at the same time, as one focuses on treating the physical body, and the other on improving the energy body and the chakras. Pranic Healing in fact complements the medical treatment and therefore can be applied when taking medical treatment.

What is Pranic Relationship Healing?:

Relationship Healing is the application of Pranic Healing techniques dealing with relationships. Any negative thought and emotion, from a simple stress, to irritations, resentment and disagreements tend to cloud the mind and lodge in the chakras. Once the chakras get clouded, the person starts seeing his/her partner through all these negative thoughts and emotions. The effects are increased arguments, hatred coldness and eventually break up. Relationship Healing works on both persons involved in a relationship to remove the negative thoughts and emotions from the aura and the chakras and increase the love and harmony.2
